Portrait of slain soldier Vanessa Guillén. The glitter coming out of her throat chakra is a symbol Guillén’s truths living on even after her death. The coffee signifies the obstacles she faced as a woman in the military and her untimely death. The leaves coming out of her shoulders represent the ever-growing strength her mother finds in her daughter’s memory.
Materials used were charcoal, spray paint, glitter, coffee and photocopy transfers on paper a wood panel. Art work is 35 inches x 35 inches (88.9 cm x 88.9 cm).
