Day of the Dead Altar, 2019
Day of the Dead altar at Grand Park’s Downtown Dia De Los Muertos dedicated to the Florence Library. located in the Florence-Firestone area of South Central Los Angeles. The library was demolished in June, 2019 and its citizens have been fighting ever since to bring it back to life. At the center of the altar is the former Supervisor of District 2 (where the library used to reside), Mark Ridley Thomas, who approved of the destruction of the library deeming it not necessary for any county purpose.
